Enumeration of lymphocyte sub-populations: a comparative study of whole blood and gradient centrifugation methods

A comparison was made of whole blood and density gradient centrifugation techniques for determining lymphocyte sub-populations in blood from normal individuals and patients with haematological disorders. No difference in cell populations was found when samples were analysed by the two techniques. In addition, the whole blood technique has been applied to the analysis of samples of blood or bone marrow with low cell yield.
