Structural and functional status of the myocardium in patients with hypertension after long-term use of albetol

The effect of albetol on basic parameters of structural and functional myocardial condition has been studied in 20 essential hypertension patients. Systemic vasodilatation is the principal hemodynamic mechanism underlying the reduction of the arterial pressure under the action of albetol. A long-term use of the agent did not cause any significant changes in the parameters of the pumping and contractile left-ventricular function. Manifested signs of regression of left-ventricular hypertrophy have been found in patients who received 12 months' albetol treatment. Albetol caused decrease in arterial pressure, heart rate and stoke index in response to standard power load with a simultaneous increase in the level of the threshold load to indicate increased effectiveness of hemodynamic load provision.
