Serum from hens in full egg production was examined by crossed immunoelectophoresis. The picture obtained was in general similar to that found for chickens. The prealbumins, albumin, glycoproteins, haemopexin and alpha-2-macroglobulin as wel as transferrin, IgG, IgM and C3 complement .beta.-1-A .beta.-1-C globulin were readily identified. The characteristic feature was the presence of lipoprotein complex (LPC) in the gamma-globulin region and lipoprotein (LP) in the beta-globulin region. The slow moving lipoprotein (9) was detected in the alpha-beta-gamma-globullin area. Transferrin was found at higher level. Some tentative correlations of thse preciptates with results published by various workers are discussed.
