Commercial radioimmunoassay kits for measuring triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) in human plasma were modified for use in laying hens. While the original and the modified method gave very similar results for T3 in hen's plasma, the values for T4 given by the two methods differed significantly.
