Gossypol acetic acid treatment in the male domestic fowl caused gradual decrease in the semen volume, spermatozoal concentration and fertility, Na+-K+ ATPase, Mg2+ ATPase, Ca2+ levels were also decreased and dropped to nearly zero at the end of 18th day of the treatment. After four weeks of cessation of treatment fully recovery and normal fertility were achieved. These changes suggest the reversible type of effect of gossypol acetate on the spermatozoa of male domestic fowl.
