The localization of fibronectin (FN) in cultured chick retinal pigment epithelial cells was examined by means of double staining and the immunocolliodal gold method. In the early stage of cell culture, when actin was in the stress fiber pattern, immunostaining of FN was faint. In the middle stage, immunostaining of FN was most prominent and at this time the distribution of actin was changed to the lateral cell membrane. In the confinement stage, immunostaining of FN was found only in the basement membrane.
