The intradermal test (IT), CIEP and IFAT were compared for efficacy in the diagnosis of experimental Heterophyes heterophyes infection in dogs and rats. None of the tests was positive until week 2 pi, when the IT became positive (sensitivity 80%). On weeks 3, 4 and 8 the sensitivity of the IT was 100%. The CIEP and the IFAT were less sensitive: 40, 60 and 46.7% and 20, 35.3 and 13.3% sensitive 3, 4 and 8 weeks pi, respectively.
