A flock of 116 sheep (25 males and 91 females, including 23 Dorset Down ewes and 3 Dorset Down ewe lambs) of five breeds was dipped in a 0.02% emulsion of diazinon in Australia. Within 10 h of dipping, two of the Dorset Down females died and another was severely distressed. In a blood sample taken from the latter animal 28 h after dipping, the cholinesterase activity fell to 28 % of the normal level.
