The decomposition of salicylsalicylic acid in the presence of substances used in the preparation of pharmaceuticals, such as "excipients", disaggregants and stabilizers, was studied, in relation to their effect on the rate of hydrolysis. The rate constant at 37.degree. of the hydrolysis reaction was determined by spectrophotometry.
