Adults of Hyalomma dromedarii were reared on rabbits in a laboratory at 29 degrees C and 75% RH, and then examined histologically for changes in the 13 types of neurosecretory cells of the synganglion with regard to feeding. Most cell types in semifed individuals exhibited marked changes in form, distribution and quantity of neurosecretory material when compared with unfed individuals. The activity of neurosecretory cell types is compared in semifed virgin and mated females.
