Hypophysectomy in R. cyanophlyctis during vitellogenic growth phase (March-April) caused a drastic decrease (P<0.05) in the mean weight of ovaries due to follicular atresia. However, the mean fat body weight remained significantly (P<0.05) higher when compared to sham-operated controls. These findings suggest that there exists an interrelationship between hypophysis, fat body and ovary in R. cyanophlyctis.
