Quantitative evaluations of Scheimpflug photographs of the anterior eye segment revealed a high scatter of the measured values. So far, it has not been possible to distinguish between methodological errors and errors caused by the patient. This paper presents a model for investigating the methodological error of the device. The evaluation of the Scheimpflug photographs confirmed the assumption: the inconstant illumination of the slit-beam of the Scheimpflug camera is the main source of methodological error.
