Chemoimmunoprophylaxis with buparvaquone against theileriosis in calves

Five crossbred calves inoculated simultaneously with ground tick supernatant containing Theileria annulata and with 2.5 mg/kg intramuscular buparvaquone remained clinically normal, with less than 1% erythrocytic piroplasms, and withstood lethal challenge 30 days later. Control calves died after the initial inoculation or after the challenge.
