IIIrd Clinic of Internal Diseases, Medical Academy, Cracow, Poland. On the basis of personal observations and of a survey of the literature, a hypothesis of leucogenesis and oncogenesis is proposed according to which intracellular deficiency of Mg facilitates the action of oncoand leucogenic factors leading to leucaemic or neoplastic transformation of cells. The higher prevalence of tumours in regions where the soil is deficient in Mg has long been known.
