This paper compares certain aspects of magnesium metabolism in animal and human studies and described studies of magnesium-mineral interactions in humans which were carried out under strictly controlled metabolic conditions. The interaction of magnesium with calcium, phosphorus and fluoride is investigated. Also, the changes in magnesium metabolism in patients with chronic renal failure are discussed.
