Nourseothricin, an antibiotic of the streptothricin group discovered and developed in Jena, is formed in cultures of Streptomyces noursei ZIMET 43716, biochemical characteristics of which are tabulated. Chemical structure, biological properties and biosynthesis of nourseothricin are described, as are its fermentative production and chemical preparation as a pure substance and as a mycelial bentonite adsorbate for use as a feed additive.
