Nourseothricin is described as belonging to the streptothricin group of antibiotics. Resistance to streptothricin and streptomycin developed among coliform bacteria of the intestinal flora followed addition of the antibiotic to the feed of pigs for 10 or 20 weeks. It had no effect on the drug resistance of coliforms from animal attendants.
