The authors compared the results of determinations of antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii by three reactions: Toxonostika immunoenzymatic test Organon, indirect immunofluorescence test used routinely in Poland, and complement fixation test. The studied material comprised 66 sera obtained from 20 women in puerperium treated for toxoplasmosis during the last pregnancy or before it and the sera of their babies taken immediately after birth, 12 sera from 6 healthy women in puerperium and their babies, and 14 sera of infants in whose umbilical cord blood positive values of titres were found in the indirect immunofluorescence test or complement fixation test. The blood from these infants was sampled at the age from 3 to 6 months. A high sensitivity of the Toxonostika immunoenzymatic test of Organon was demonstrated, parallelling that of the indirect immunofluorescence test. No agreement was found between the results obtained with the Toxonostika test and indirect immunofluorescence test on the one hand, and the complement fixation test, on the other hand.
