In order to build a modern highly productive agricultural co-operative system in Romania it is essential to achieve a high degree of labour efficiency, which is largely determined by work processes, demographic features, training and work force stability. A stable work force is particularly important, and is influenced by the type of work, material incentives, social organization of the co-operative, the work prestige and social status of agriculture, and the general modernization and improvement of rural life. Material, social and economic rewards offered to the co-operative farm member must compare favourably with those obtained from urban employment if the rural work force is to remain stable.
