Testicular changes as affected by mating systems in beef cattle

Inbreeding of Hereford cattle resulted in an increase in the incidence of abnormal seminiferous tubules in the testicle. The nine inbred lines examined were not affected uniformly; in one line the incidence was no higher than in the outbred controls. The condition was not always associated with abnormal semen quality. Stasis of spermatozoa and three types of testicular hypoplasia were also seen.
