Concentrations of the hemoglobin content, hematocrit and the mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration of the erythrocytes in halothane-sensitive and -resistant swine

The halothane test for sensitivity to stress was conducted on 187 pigs of lines 01 and 150, weighing 40-50 kg, and 187 Belgian Landrace piglets weighing 15-20 kg. 136 pigs were positive and 238 were negative to the test. There was no significant difference in the three haematological values between positive and negative animals. These values were influenced by genetic origin and iron deficiency.
