Examination of 111 children at Harare Hospital, Zimbabwe, between November 1982 and December 1983 revealed Giardia lamblia in 7 of 46 with diarrhoea and 6 of 65 with no history of diarrhoea. 7 of 16 children with diarrhoea lasting for 3 weeks or more were infected with G. lamblia. All children with giardiasis, whether symptomatic or not, were undernourished.
