The colleterial glands are paired, identical, simple, elongated glandular tubules with enlarged basal reservoirs, which unit at their base and open into the vagina. Their epithelial wall displays regional specialization, with differentiation of the cells into four types (I, II, III and IV). Each secretory cell possesses an "end-apparatus" regulating the release of secretory products.
