Clinical trial of aztreonam in the field of obstetrics and gynecology

1. Clinical effect and safety of aztreonam (AZT) in the obstetrics and gynecology were studied in 17 cases of obstetric and gynecological infections. AZT was administered at a dose of 2 g per day by intravenous drip infusion, for 4 .apprx. 8 days depending on severity of the disease. The results showed that AZT was effective in 14 out of 17 cases and the overall efficacy rate was 82.4%. 2. Escherichia coli, Enterobacter, Enterococcus faecalis, etc. were detected in 8 out of 17 cases, and after AZT treatment other strains appeared in 3 clinically effective cases. 3. There was a slight elevation of GOT and GPT in 1 case but no other appreciable side effect or abnormal laboratory value was observed.
