Information value of research on blood myoglobin in myocardial infarct patients

A study of 170 patients showed that myoglobinemia, the most sensitive and earliest biochemical index of myocardial infarction, was the most important criterion of a prolonged course of myocardial infarction. In the latest period, the informativeness of myoglobinemia decreased due to a relatively short-lived increase in this index and it was inferior to the MB-fraction of creatine phosphokinase with respect to specificity and to degree of deviation.
