Effects of lipid peroxidation stimulation and inhibition on myoglobin and creatine kinase kinetics in uncomplicated and complicated forms of myocardial infarct

The effect of stimulating and inhibiting lipid peroxidation on the kinetics of myoglobin and creatinine kinase in the uncomplicated and complicated healing process for myocardial infarction was studied in experiments on dogs. Myocardial infarction was induced in the dogs. In some of these dogs, a hyperreactive, complicated healing process was modelled by administering pyrogenal; in other dogs, a hyporeactive healing process was modelled by administering amidopyrine. In addition, the blood of some of these same dogs was exposed to ultraviolet radiation, while other dogs were administered alpha-tocopherol acetate. It was found that by regulating lipid peroxidation it is possible to control the dynamics of necrotic processes and simultaneously optimize myocardial infarction healing. The acceleration of necrotic processes is an induction for the administration of antioxidant drugs. When these process are slowed lipid peroxidation should be stimulated. Alpha-tocopherol and ultraviolet autoblood irradiation, respectively, were found to be effective means of inhibiting and stimulating lipid peroxidation.
