Using classical EEG methods and EEG recordings quantified by Hjorth's NSD approach which produces computerized EEG maps 70 cases of cerebral infarctions were localized. There was 45 cases of Sylvian infarction; 5 infarctions in the anterior cerebral artery and 20 in the vertebro-basilary region, 5 in the posterior cerebral artery, 7 mesencephalic and 8 pontine infarctions. Clear EEG anomalies were evident in the affected arterial system in most cases. The computerizing approach is able to determine a more precise location of the EEG anomalies than classical EEG because of its fine and minute temporo-spatial representation. It also depicts the part of the cerebral hemisphere situated contralaterally to the lesion.
