Pyrexial children (35) with varying pathologies were entered into an open study to compare the antipyretic effect of ibuprofen oral suspension and paracetamol suppositories. Temperature was recorded at intervals up to 11 h after dosing. Both treatments evidently had an antipyretic effect, but that the magnitude and duration of the antipyretic was greater with ibuprofen.
