In longitudinal and cross cryostat sections of the rat sternomastoideus and extensor digitorum longus, the architectonics of parallel capillary segments with AP activity were compared with the richly anastomosing capillary network in the motor end-plate zone, which was always localized only in capillary segments with AP activity in the endothelium, i.e., in arterial segments. In semithin cross-sections of the sternomastoideus the relationships of the muscle fibers, capillaries and neuromuscular junctions were studied, a quantitative evaluation of the capillaries and muscle fibers in and outside the motor end-plate zone was done, and probable models for capillary and muscle fiber distribution were created.
