In acute experiments on cats, electric stimulation of the nucleus fastigii leads to suppression of epileptic discharges in the cortical focus of the contralateral hemisphere and marked decrease in the epileptic activity level, induced by application of weak penicillin solution, of the focus in the cortex of the ipsilateral hemishere. Activation of convulsive discharges was noted on a model of a complex of epileptic foci in the early period of its existence under the effect of electric stimulation of the nucleus. In diminished epileptic activity of the complex, electric stimulation suppressed activity of the foci. The period of existence of single foci and of epileptic complexes reduced in electric stimulation of the nucleus fastigii. Nucleus fastigii is evidently important as a part of the antiepileptic system of the brain.
