Fasting plasma free amino acids of infants on milk protein diets

Fasting plasma samples were taken from children 4 to 24 months old who all had severe primary malnutrition for 6 weeks before the study. The test diets contained protein from modified cow's milk or calcium caseinate. Neither source nor amount of milk protein had a significant effect on fasting values for total free amino acids in plasma, the ratio of essential to total amino acids, or the molar fraction of individual essential amino acids of convalescing infants.
