Free plasma amino acids in rabbits with endotoxin shock

In rabbits blood for investigation was obtained from the auricular vein before and two hours following i.v. injection of 2 mg/kg-1 body weight endotoxin from Escherichia coli (0111:B4). Within two hours of the intravenous endotoxin introduction, a significant increase in plasma alanine level (+ 50%, p < 0.01), decrease in glycine level (-26%, p < 0.05), as well as an insignificant decrease in serine plasma level were established. A significant decrease in plasma phospho-ethanolamine level (-25%, p < 0.001) was also observed.
