Effect of malathion & DDT on the action of chlorpromazine & diazepam with reference to conditioned avoidance response in rats

Malathion (230 mg/kg, i.p.) blocked conditioned avoidance response (CAR) in 33% of the animals while DDT did not. The acquisition of CAR was retarded and extinction hastened in animals treated with malathion and DDT. In equipotent doses, malathion exerted a greater effect. Malathion also potentiated the effect of CPZ was enhanched only after malathion. Possible mechanism involved in the effect of malathion and DDT on CAR was discussed.
