Adriamycin (ADR) produced serious alterations in the tissues of Sprague Dawley rats. The drug was given to animals by single i.v. injection in a dose of 15 mg/kg. The histopathological changes of heart, kidney and liver induced by the drug were studied. Myocardial changes were characterized by edema, atrophy and vacuolization. Alterations in the liver consisted mostly of pyknotic nuclei and vacuolated cytoplasm. Renal changes were detected especially in the proximal tubules and glomeruli.
