Reaction of Beta spp. to Root-knot Nematodes

The resistance of 13 Beta species, selections and hybrids to 5 Italian populations of Meloidogyne spp. was studied in the glasshouse. B. procumbens Moq (The Netherlands) was resistant to M. hapla, M. incognita and M. javanica but not to M. arenaria and M. naasi. The American selection of B. procumbens and the hybrid of B. vulgaris Gr56224x cross B. procumbens were resistant to M. naasi. No selections were resistant to M. arenaria.
