Studies on serum electrolytes and glucose in malnourished children

Serum electrolytes and blood glucose were estimated in 25 Indian children with marasmus, 20 with kwashiorkor and 20 normal children. In marasmus Na, K and Cl values were low. There were high normal values for Na, Cl and K and low values for blood glucose in kwashiorkor. There was no significant change in serum Ca in either group.
