Chlorpromazine and temperature-induced changes in cultured mouse cardiac tissue

Long-term maintenance of organs for subsequent transplantation has not been perfected. Cultivation of tissues in organ culture prior to transplantation may enhance allograft survival. Fetal mouse heart explants were cultured at 4.degree. and 37.degree. C with or without chlorpromazine hydrochloride. Histological observations showed that tissue integrity was maintained at 4.degree. without or 37.degree. C with drug treatment. Tissue disintegration was observed at 4.degree. with drug treatment or 37.degree. C in the absence of the drug.
