Note on the Aedes species of mosquitoes recorded in Romania

A table is given showing all the 19 species of Aedes previously known to occur in Romania and also those collected and verified in the Medical Entomology Laboratory in 1978-81; collection sites and dates, literature references (where applicable) or names of collecting and identifying workers, development stage collected and frequency in Romania are also shown. The collection habitats of each species are presented and discussed; most species were found in transient pools of stagnant water. A. intrudens Dyar was recorded for the 1st time in Romania, the larvae being found in swamps and in transient and perennial stagnant pools.
