The clinical behavior of desmoid tumors in children

The clinical aspects of desmoid tumors of muscle or fascia were evaluated in 12 children, ranging in ages from 16 mo.-15 yr. Eight were male and 4 female. Eight patients had simple local excision; all had local tumor recurrence. Four patients who had wide local excision or amputation have remained tumor free for 8-12 yr. This tumor has a high potential to recur locally.
