Liposomes were used to deliver rRNA from 3 different organisms into cultivated mouse plasmacytoma cells. rRNA from Escherichia coli was degraded intracellularly within 1 h, whereas mouse and yeast rRNA were degraded more slowly. Cells can evidently discriminate between different rRNA.
