Sensory extinction is usually more apparent with lesions of the left than of the right hemisphere. Several factors modifying the relative activity of the cerebral hemispheres were used. Sensory extinction could be due to interhemispheric disequilibrium and not from a lesion of a structure specifically involved in attention phenomena.
