In rhesus monkeys infected with P. knowlesi, levels of plasma total lipids, phospholipids, neutral fats, triglycerides and free fatty acids were significantly increased at parasitaemias of 8 to 10% or more. Of the phospholipids, only phosphatidyl choline was significantly increased. Erythrocyte lipids showed similar patterns of increase.
