Antigens prepared from P. knowlesi and P. cynomolgi were used to test 72 sera from confirmed cases of P. vivax malaria in the IFAT. The 2 antigens gave a positivity rate of 83.3 and 81.9% respectively. At cut-off titres of 1:32 and 1:64, specificity rates of 98.8 and 100% were obtained with P. knowlesi and P. cynomolgi respectively. The 2 antigens showed an 84.7% positive agreement. 8.5% of the sera were positive only with P. knowlesi antigen and 6.9% only with P. cynomolgi antigen. The reproductivity of the results was within acceptable limits.
