Caseinase, gelatinase, elastase, lecithinase and hemolytic activities were determined for 100 Bacillus strains isolated from humans and animals. A high proteolytic activity was observed in the B. subtilis-B. mesentericus group and a pronounced hemolytic activity was noted in B. cereus. Most B. cereus and B. laterosporus strains and certain strains of B. subtilis-B. mesentericus possessed lecithinase activity.
