Possible bronchomotor effects of pindolol

A pharmacological study of the effects of pindolol was conducted in healthy subjects (10) and asthmatics (8). The results showed that pindolol in the doses utilized did not cause ventilatory asynchrony in normal subjects or asthmatics. Pindolol had an anti-.beta.2 activity. This, in combination with the anti-.beta.1 activity of this product, indicates that pindolol does not have a completely specific cardioselective action. Pindolol should be prescribed with care to asthmatics.
