20 strains of E. coli and 20 of Salmonella typhimurium isolated from foodstuffs of animal origin were tested. All of the examined strains of both groups were 100% resistant to penicillin-G and vancomycin, but highly sensitive to trimethoprim and nalidixic acid. The ability of resistance transfer between E. coli and E. coli K 12 was 30%, between Salmonella and E. coli K 12 25% and in the case of E. coli and S. typhimurium too 25% of the strains were able to transfer resistance factor.
