Between 1949 and 1978 there were 425 cases of human hydatidosis which required surgery. The annual rate varied from 14 to 4%. Prevalence of hydatidosis in animals slaughtered in "B" county was 10 486 (33.7%) of 32 426 cattle, 11 326 (6.6%) of 169 624 swine and 33 316 (46.1%) of 72 229 sheep in 1978, and 9548 (39.2%) of 24 309 cattle, 7755 (7.1%) of 108 490 swine and 17 207 (37%) of 46 437 sheep in 1979.
