Action of H. paragalinarum type 1 hemagglutinin was not inhibited by mannose, methyl-.alpha.-D-mannoside, sialic acid and cholesterol. Hemagglutination was inhibited by lipopolysaccharide from H. paragallinarum and from Escherichia coli. Treatment of chicken red blood cell with trypsin or formalin increased the sensitivity of these cells to H. paragallinarum type 1 hemagglutinin.
