Cases are reported in 4 patients of intracerebral mass lesions due to Cryptococcus neoformans. All were evaluated with cephalic computed tomography. Multiple cryptococcal intracerebral mass lesions associated with meningitis in a 27-yr-old female heroin addict were successfully treated with amphotericin B and flucytosine [5-fluorocytosine]. A 19-yr-old pregnant woman, suffering from a gelatinous mass lesion due to C. neoformans in the lung and cryptococcal meningitis, was treated with i.v. amphotericin B, but subsequently developed cryptococcal intracerebral mass lesions. Therapy with i.v. miconazole was successful. Amphotericin B therapy was successful in a case of cryptococcal meningitis and cerebral mass lesions in a 61-yr-old male alcoholic. A 40-yr-old man was found to have 3 intracerebral cryptococcal mass lesions, which were successfully treated by surgery, amphotericin B and 5-fluorocytosine.
