The activity of acid and alkaline phosphatase, of Ca and Mg dependent ATPase and of succinic dehydrogenase in intestinal mucosa of rats, fed for 14 wk with a low Mg diet, was determined. An increased activity of acid phosphatase in enterocytes and in the stroma of intestinal villi was observed from the 7th wk of application of a low Mg diet. This phenomenon was accompanied by a decrease in the activity of alkaline phosphatase and Ca dependent ATPase particularly after prolonged administration of this diet. The activity of Mg dependent ATPase and of succinic dehydrogenase in mucosa of rat's jejunum was not greatly affected by a low Mg diet.
